Shortly after the elk, we saw more people stopped by the road, and thought there might be another elk, or maybe a moose, but as we went past we saw that it was just some deer, and decided it was not worth stopping just for deer given that we had just stopped for the elk. If it had been a moose, probably would have stopped. But we have deer at home, so… not so impressive.

Went that whole damn trip without seeing one moose, even when we went out moose-spotting at way-too-early o’ clock in canoes with the park people, to go to the place where the moose are supposed to be. There was not a single moose to see (stupid things don’t seem to understand the idea of keeping to a regular schedule).

We were similarly disappointed by whale-watching. We saw a lot of harbour seals, and some sea lions, and a bald eagle, but no whales. We went away from the trip suspecting that the whales and moose don’t really exist – they are just something Canadians pretend exist to draw in tourists and sell them gimmicky stuff with a moose on it.
