The components inside the case will produce the same amount of heat no matter what material they use, the only difference is what happens when the hot air hits the inside of the case. Plastic is a crappy conductor and will do a good job of trapping the heat inside the case (except for where there’s a fan blowing hot air out through a hole) which may not be a problem… unless that fan hole gets blocked for a while or there’s a powerful CPU in there, in which case ****’s going to start to overheat, which is a Bad Thing™ Metal is a good conductor and will allow heat to come out through the case instead of more-or-less only leaving when a fan tells it to. This will mean you can have a more powerful computer in there without melting your processor, but the heat still has to go somewhere, and if it’s all coming out through the metal body of the case then it may or may not give you 3rd degree burns to the general leg/crotch area. Depends what your priorities are I guess… |
