God can’t exist and here’s why.
Suppose an infinite being created the universe. Since this entity is all-knowing, immortal, omnipotent, and infinite, it encompbumes the universe. So it couldn’t really create ALL the universe, just added more to whatever was already in the universe, (the stars, planets, galaxies we know of) which is a somewhat lesser accomplishment. In order to create the entire universe God must create himself, which is logically impossible.
While we cannot completely rule out the possibility of an omnipotent entity, we can rule out that an omnipotent entity with no creator of its own created the universe.
So there’s no point trying to resort to probabilities or other conciliatory arguments when talking to religious types. Either they’re dead wrong or their god wasn’t around forever, and is thus no longer a god but just a really powerful nebulous thing out there that might poo poo galaxies, but is ultimately not the creator of the universe and has no bearing on our lives anyway.
