As far as gays adopting, I have some cognitive dissonance going on. On the one side, I think that it would be very discriminatory and unfair to not let them adopt. On the other side, from a religious point of view, I’d be afraid that they would coach the kids into a lifestyle I don’t personally accept.

I’m aware of my bias and I don’t think I can make a valid conclusion on this issue; as such I will abstain from giving a verdict.

Isn’t that the real disagreement? The other side doesn’t consider homosexuality a lifestyle. This will never come to a conclusion with this barring the way.
