Hitting a solo bracket at the wrong end of your streak could mean a waste of 4 weeks if you’re not allowed to medal.

One way to fix this, barring more participants, would be by randomising the brackets a bit more. Mixing players of different tiers together until the bracket is filled. This would also allow solo players with medals in the same tiers to get their alts lumped in a single bracket less often. I have 3 alts in the second bracket this week and it’s just awkward.

Another would be to eliminate players who haven’t earned scoops (or move them to a bracket where only 1 or 2 medals can be won) and merge brackets together half way through the week, if the bracket is quiet.
