Would it? Suppose you have a submission that would get 35 upvotes and 30 downvotes. If it was just “upvote/pbum” you would end up with 7 scoops. However, if you get to 5 scoops, get downvoted, get upvoted, get downvoted, get upvoted, etc. you would end up with 31 scoops. At the same time, if you go up/down/up/down etc. ending with 5 straight up votes, you’d end up with 1 scoop. It seems like “you get 7” is better than “you get somewhere between 1 and 31” in this situation.

It seems “you get scoops = floor[votes/5], no matter what order you get them in” would be a good system.

You realize downvoting has no effect on number of scoops gained, right? It’s only for number of upvotes.

The scoop number would be the exact same, bumuming that people used “pbum” for every downvote.
