Last time I drove down to the States, I bought bottles of Coke and Pepsi at the last gas station in Canada and the first gas station in the States. I did a blind taste-test for ****s and giggles. American Coke tastes like Canadian Pepsi and American Pepsi is almost too sweet to drink. American Coke also lacks the same sharp bite that Canadian Coke has.

A little research explained it; Canadian pop uses refined sugar under the name glucose-fructose (so parents don’t go “oh no, sugar” when they look at the label*) while American pop uses high-fructose corn syrup instead of sugar.

Regardless, they all make my teeth sing.

*Or “oh non, sucre” if they look at the other side.
