Likewise, I don’t understand why anyone would play something in Warcraft III that isn’t DotA, when DotA has everything you could possibly ask for.

I do not enjoy micromanagement. I think controlling a dozen units (each of which may have a special ability that you must use manually) is an annoying chore, and in DotA I don’t have to do it. Hence, DotA is more enjoyable for me.

If you do enjoy micromanagement, you can pick Chen, or Enchantress, or Meepo. Then you get a bunch of units who can’t take care of themselves. Woohoo. There really is no reason to play Melee anymore.
