If you look at the HTML code, a quote is actually seen as “ampersand-’quot’-semicolon” in the HTML. Any special character will do it – ”&” is “ampersand-’amp’-semicolon”, ”<” is “ampersand-’lt’-semicolon”, etc…

So for example…

<Log in to see images!

&)

“Log in to see images!

The solution is to get rid of the semicolon as part of a parsed smiley, so the semicolons won’t insert bull**** smileys.
