Edit: I don’t give a **** if you think I’m whining. It’s just an explanation of why I’m not here, and I’m obviously not happy about it breaking.
Explanation of why my internet is more or less dead:
TL;DR? ****ty little USB device.
Full version?
My original wireless device (a card inside my computer) died on its own somehow. Not entirely sure how. I was originally going to send it to Acer, but now I couldn’t because I need my computer for school. We had this little USB wireless device that came with our router that we bought two or three years ago. I’ve been using that to connect to the internet for… uh, around a month? Or two? Or three? Not sure. But it’s broken now.
Ever had one of those little USB Flash Drives? Chances are, you have. Ever see one on a laptop where you slip on the laptop and it completely snaps off the USB drive, breaking it completely? Most of you haven’t but it’s not a pretty site. Luckily, this DIDN’T happen to the USB Wireless. Actually, it sort of did. It’s still in one piece, but it’s ****ed up now.
This is because people keep hitting the wire from the little pedestal it sits in. The pedestal is more or less a USB extension cord, but with a part embedded in plastic to make it have weight. It keeps getting hit, and the USB keeps hitting the floor.
It’s broken now.
It works on and off, but it’s really difficult to deal with. When I get money from my birthday (party is on the 11-14th weekend) and Christmas, I’m going to buy one of those wireless PMCIA cards. Which will eventually break as well.
I hate technology and its planned obsolescency/poor structure.
In the mother****ing fifties, this wouldn’t happen. They made everything to last. Like our electric mixer which still works to this day, which we use to make cake.
Ugh, I feel so ****ing ****y now. Patch The Darknut edited this message on 12/10/2008 8:43AM |
