The Internet was originally constructed to be a military information network. The information was not public, but was accessible to certain select people. The same principles should be applied in the modern world. The Internet should be free for people’s access. Censorship should not be applied. For example, putting age caps to block content is meaningless since it only motivates people to lie about their age. Direct censorship of material only fuels the desire to find the uncensored version. Blocking websites only motivates the search for anonymous-browsing proxies.
Thus, attempts at censorship of information, attempts to make it restricted instead of free, only backfire. These attempts force users to develop bad habits, sacrificing morals for the satisfaction of their own natural curiosity. Since censorship only leads to bad habits and moral corruption, it should be eliminated.
