I actually did get into the Army. I dropped out both because I became mentally scarred by the physical activities (PT has, quite seriously, made me deathly afraid of cold, dark 5am mornings), and because I had absolutely zero motivation while the whole time I was thinking “Jesus ****, why did I choose this instead of just losing a few pounds for the Air Force?!”.

PROTIP: The Air Force does NOT want more people. Their physical restrictions are tougher, and recruiters evidently aren’t encouraged to help people lose the weight like Army recruiters are. Army has much more flexible weight and physical limitations, waivers, etc… because they’re cannon fodder.
