People can still run up big scoop towers on their mains but they are vulnerable to being dogpiled and there is basically no way to do an effective last minute minscoop/shield strategy in the competitive pods (which should encourage euro players).

Switcheroos become valuable again and shields and bumholes lose their primacy which is pretty nice.

No ties will also encourage a more free for all game within klans rather than arranging ties every week.
