Winter was fairly quiet. I could feel the end of my reign approaching quickly, and while I was glad to be relieved of duty, I felt I needed to make a bigger mark before I stepped down. Luckily, the secret project was near completion.

Work started on the bridges and moat. This will be important for security in our future, although there’s no way I can get it all built before spring. The fortifications are all done, too.

Our dwarves are beginning to become sensitive to light, vomiting at the brightness. While this isn’t a huge deal yet, it could hurt out military dwarves in the future.

This is the state of the fortress at the end of my rule. I think I’ve done well: No one has died, at least, and we have plenty of of food and drink. Still, the poor sap I hand this place off to will have his hands full.
