Back away from the barrel as far as possible and shoot it with your pistol.

Bamp retreats a little, then pumps the barrel full of lead. He hears nothing but the explosion. He spies a pair of steel boots, so he puts them on, seeing as his old pair is now molten liquid from his lava bath. The explosion carved pieces out of the walls, giving him several choice where to go next. From his position, he sees a room full of barrels and a lever, and hears the sound of a reloading shotgun in the distance…
