Airbase is my absolute favorite trance artist, and Tiesto is, of course, the most famous trance DJ alive, look into albums by those two. You’d probably like Tub Ring and Behold the Arctopus, check those guys out as well.

You’ve probably heard some Cobra Starship; if you’ve only heard one or two songs and didn’t like them, you should check out some of their other stuff, they’re a pretty “up-and-down” band.

Buckethead and Joe Satriani are two solo guitarists who kind of fit your description, and they each have huge catalogs. You can also hear Buckethead in Les Claypool’s project Colonel Claypool’s Bucket of Bernie Brains.

Also, any of Mike Patton’s projects; the guy is a musical genius. His bands include Peeping Tom, Tomahawk, Fantomas, Faith No More, and Mr. Bungle, among any that I may be forgetting.
