Who misses Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

Sure season 8 is ongoing in comic book form but it’s not the same thing. Buffy was 6 seasons of awesomeness, Season 3 wasn’t awesome. But I miss the show. In my spare time when not playing games I watch All 7 seasons of Buffy and all 5 Seasons of Angel. But it would be great if BtVS came back on the air. Sadly I doubt it will happen. sarah michelle gellar blew off the wrap party that was thrown after the final episode. And she refused to appear in season 5 of Angel leading to a woman in a wig plus badly dubbed dialog replacing her. If the stars aligned just right it would be very cool if season 9 came back to TV. Giant sized Dawn, Lesbian Buffy, Good times. |

See, now this is a good thread.
Buffy was a great show, even in its weak seasons. I have the “Once More With Feeling” soundtrack and still listen to it. Angel took a while to get going but eventually it was good too.
I’m enjoying the comic but one “episode” a month isn’t enough. And I can’t afford the Angel comic, so I’m missing out on all that stuff too Log in to see images!
A movie once in a while would be good, but it’s doubtful it would happen, which is unfortunate. And Joss is off Wonder Woman now too, so who knows when we’ll get to see any new live-action action from him?
Luckily I still have the entire Firefly run (including the movie) waiting for me on DVD, when I get time Log in to see images! |

Firefly was cool but I really disliked Serenity. I can’t explain why. Maybe River turning from slightly nuts girl into Rambo or maybe just the jump to the movie screen moved it from Cult to Mainstream. And yea I don’t touch comic books because I FF past commercials, Waiting a month for an episode would kill me. |

Log in to see images! Buffy, Angel, Firefly and all things Joss. Well, that whole Alien Res was a bit of a disaster, but pretty much everything else.
Joss is currently working with Eliza Dushku (Faith from Buffy) and Amy Acker (Fred/Illyria from Angel) on a new series called Dollhouse.
I’ve gone through about half the season 8 comics, but prefer to wait for them to be collected into graphic novel format.
I also still play the discontinued BtVS card game. Great game mechanics. Log in to see images! |

I hadn’t heard that Amy Acker was involved. The idea sounds much like something Jack L. Chalker would write. I played a lot of CCG’s but the Buffy card game never caught on locally. Probably because it came out at the same time as dozens of others. |

I’m gonna have to watch that.
Amy Acker impressed the **** out of me on that one episode of Angel where she went from Fred to Illyria (sp?) without a change of costume or makeup, speech, etc. Only her body moved. Her whole demeanor just changed in an instant, and you could tell that she had switched personas simply by looking at her. I was blown away. That is one fine actress. |

Yeah, the Buffy universe is ****ing amazing. It worked on so many levels and genres – horror, drama, comedy, romance, teen, etc. – that just about anyone can find something they like in it. |

I didn’t pick up the game until it was at the very end. My brother went to work for Score, and I figured my sisterly duty was to at least learn to play the game he was making. Never would have guessed I’d still be playing it 6 years down the line.
I was also happy to see Acker on board. Great in Angel, great on Alias. Glad she didn’t drift off. Log in to see images! |

The writers wrung as much out of Fred as they could. I think turning her into a (Sexy) god was a bold move that turned out great. Joss had plans for a 6th season of Angel but was told part way through that there would be no season 6. So he had to rush some story arcs. I often wonder how Illyria would have turned out if they had had the time to develop her more. |
