I finally figured out how to do the (seemingly) incredibly simple task of viewing your active layer in Gimp…
I mean, ok, if you don’t know, you can use gimp to make animated GIF’s and the multiple images within the GIF are called layers. You think there’s probably an obvious icon to flip through the layer you want to view. No. Oh well there’s a “view” tab up at the, top that looks promising. No. Alright well, there’s a “layer” tab that must be it. No. Wait… it’s got to be there; I’m missing it. Let me try absolutely ****ing everything. No. WTF!
How do you do it? First you press CTRL+L to bring up the layers window (Wow, a layers window hmmm… maybe that would have been a good idea to include under the “layer” tab — what a profound ****ing notion — I guess not) THEN, yes, THEN because oh no, we ain’t done yet… THEN once you got that ****er open and you see all these little icons and image previews of your windows you go, ok, let me click the window I want. No. Oh well obviously it’s the eyeball icon by the window. No. Well let me right click the eyeball and bring up all the exact same useless **** from the “layer” tab. No! The answer: you hold shift then click the eyeball. Well, what an intuitive and user-friendly ****ing exercise that was. Is there any reason why it needs to be this cryptic? I’m playing ****ing Myst over here trying to do the most basic navigation imaginable. I know why they call it gimp now, because you want to find the ****er who made it, tie him up, and beat the **** out of him. Log in to see images!
