Any thoughts? Besides the fact that the ‘Kingdom Hearts’ franchise will now have Sephiroth facing off against Spiderman, Wolverine and Hulk, will this turn out good, bad or ugly?

Pretty much everybody who is not fiscally involved with this deal won’t notice much change. All Disney is doing is buying a very very large amount of the stock. I don’t THINK anything else will happen outside of that. See how they went with Pixar?

I also wonder, does Marvel still own the rights to Gargoyles, GI Joe, Star Wars and The Transformers?
I’m sure I remember them publishing comic books on these properties. If so, Disney now has their hands in these cookie jars as well.

I doubt it. First, Sephiroth is owned by Square, not Disney; if they’re not interested in getting their characters involved in Marvel’s, then that would be a no.
Second, pretty much what dobnits said. Disney would be stupid to tinker too much with Marvel, especially right off the bat.
Third, those pictures up there are responsible for my loss of breath, aching stomach, and hostile looks from my budgies. Especially the steamboat one. |

As long as Brubaker is left alone with Cap and Daredevil, I guess I’m fine with this. I’ve dropped most of the other Marvel books since Secret Invasion. It does bother me that Disney is becoming an even more far reaching entertainment monopoly.
