my favorite deck back in teh days was a flashback/madness deck which consisted of pounding the enemy with a wild mongrel while playing ridiculously underpriced cards from the graveyard (like roar of the wurm) and then for extra lulz i put rancor on them and sacrificed them for the greater good to draw cards equal to their power (8 cards for each wurm)

You are forgetting, there are still children. Which demographic a game is marketed towards is irrelevant. If the game was any good, it would attract new players in it’s target demographic. Clearly Pokemon could not do that, and the reason was that it was a terrible game with horrible imbalances.

Yu Gi Oh came even later than Pokemon, and it stole its entire game system from Magic. And unlike Pokemon, Yu Gi Oh is actually made by a different company, so they CAN “steal ideas.”

Alright, Mr. Ad-Hominem, if children’s interests are so damn dynamic, why are Sesame Street and Barney still on the air? It’s all about quality of product, which clearly Pokemon did not have.
