Family-Plan Ban

In an effort to maintain good order & discipline within this forum, we have decided to enact a new level of banning protocol. For repeat offenders (meaning any person with 3+ bans), we will apply a form of group punishment. If a repeat offender is banned for a rules violation, then all other community members that share the same primary IP address will also be banned, for a duration not to exceed 50% of the primary offender’s ban length.

In other words, if John is banned for 5 days for posting Goatse in Civil Discussion, then Mary and Timmy (his wife and son that also play from the same house) will be banned for up to 2.5 days, even if they have never made a rules violation. This ban will supersede any warning that may have been given previously as well.

Depending on the effectiveness of this new disciplinary method, we may decide to extend it to in-game Klans as well, since they are like an extended family. Our current discussion revolves around applying the auxiliary ban first to the Klan Administrator, so that the leader of each Klan takes a more active role in policing their own members, as well as makes more critical decisions on their Klan memberships.

It’s a little more work for the Moderators, but in the end, I think it’s worth it.
