If this is ever revived I want to suggest the book Life of Pi by Yann Martel. I think the only thing the book discusses is is the worth of a good story. Or Vain Art of the Fugue by Dumitru Tsepeneag with I am unable to describe. |

Heh. Magical realism never works for me. that’s why I can never seem to stand authors like Marquez and Naipaul.
Pratchett, however is a different story.
If you are even slightly into science, I suggest reading the “Science of the discworld” Series. It’s not science fiction…. it’s science AND fiction, but as separate entities. the story (fiction) gets 7 pages at a time, followed by 21 pages of raw science, authored by Ian Stewart and Jack Cohen. It provides remarkable insight into things such as evolution (REAL evolution, not some morphing amoeba), the concept of infinity, and other cooly cool cool stuff. Delightful read, really. |

How about Frank Herbert’s The Dragon in the Sea. Its shorter than the last I suggested. Its about a four man submarine crew with a possibility of a saboteur aboard. Like most Frank Herbert works there is a lot of elements of psychology. |

Okay I finished it about a week ago. It start sort of slow, but it seems to be trying to point out that we need to be more concerned with the mental welfare of our soldiers. |

I’d suggest ‘A House for Mr. Biswas’ By V.S. Naipaul.
I’ve read a lot of sucky Nobel prize winning author ****, but this one is actually pretty good. |
