Laffo you grinded and levelled up. Huge mistake. You are supposed to run away from every battle so that the enemies don’t become impossible. |

I *enjoyed* 8 more than 7 – though I loved Aeris, Sephiroth, and Red XIII. In fact, I’ll admit 7’s story was better.
I loved Triple Triad, though. A lot. And the GFs. Also the gunblades. 8 was more fun to *play,* I think.
Still, whenever I think of Square, I think how much better both Tactics and Vagrant Story were. I don’t know if I’ve ever loved a game quite like I loved Vagrant Story. The item-crafting! The story! The chains! |

This is quickly evolving into a discussion about Final Fantasy 8.
Personally, I’m divided between Tactics for the sheer amount of mileage I’ve gotten out of it and the amazing amount of customization and FF7 for the nostalgia value, the story, and the magic mechanic which I feel was p exceptional in design. |

Ok anyone who says 8 was the best obviosuly wasnt into FF, before the craze took over, 7 was the revolution the best characters story line and just game play, it made the playstation games of today what they are, 8 just seemed dull and boring no life to it until disc 3, 10 was brilliant loved the game play to that, 10-2 was a joke though. Now just eagerly waiting for 13 to come out alwyas great timesming in my pants over it |

8 was the only one I played. I liked it. But as with most RPGs the whole series is deliberately tedious.
It’s like… Forumwarz with a slightly better storyline (seriously). |

Also, XII is terrible. |

This. After playing some of the real FF games, I got the GBA Tactics, not really expecting much, but with that said, and the DS Tactics, that’s plus of 500 hours. I’m a real man. |

7, the chars and the material leveling and equiping was the best system out of the other ones. Tactics I’ll give a nod at, and even mystical quest (yay parody games Log in to see images! |

Vagrant Story is an amazing game
I personally can’t choose a favorite.
I like the IV, Cecil is one of my favorites heros, the one who overcomes is darkness to be reborn as a paladin. The VII has a great storyline, but also a bit… familiar, and the characters are amazing, Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Nanaki, Vincent, Sephiroth and Zack, i just love them. Also it was an innovation on gaming when it was first released The IX, i loved it, it’s the final serie returning to the begginin, also great characters, Freya, Zidane and even Kuja are cool.
i just can’t choose… ReKaZ edited this message on 04/25/2009 1:29PM |

Only when I was trying to steal magic spells from the monsters and looking for parts to make new equipment. But the summons cutscenes took ****ing forever. And there is a limit to how long I am going to press the square bumon.

VI was my favorite; I also played it on the SNES as III. I loved the way each character got their own story, their own motivation (except Umaro, but seriously, **** Umaro). I liked X, VII, and I quite a bit, though.
But >:/ at the whippersnappers who think the series started with VII *shakes cane* |

ignoring my previous post, i’d have to say my favorite final fantasy is a 3 way tie between VI, VIII, and Mystic quest (ftw)..but i’d probably pick VIII out of those three (if i had too =/) |

I love Vagrant Story too. The replay factor is high. But the battle system is kinda awkward at times. Especially when fighting bosses. And I still don’t really get the story. |

Vagrant Story’s combat system felt like a beefed up variant of the system they used in Parasite Eve which I also enjoyed.
When it comes to choosing a favorite FF game, I have one for each console generation:
NES: FFI SNES: FFVI PSX: FFVII PS2: FFXII
I guess if I have to chose only one I would pick FFI for the Choose Your Party feature. Caesius edited this message on 04/26/2009 11:27PM |
