I think “Whores just want to have fun” used to be something like that, unfortunately every semi-active topic on that forum is stickied, which means RP is impossible as players can get themselves banned for something as incredibly minor as posting an off-topic image.

So either strike that very special rule, stop stickying turds like “post your male reproductive organ or vag”, or give us a new forum to RP in.

So I would only be able to post other people’s IPs, and otherwise have to settle for screwing around with the site and other people’s posts? I mean, as discussed elsewhere, the FWZ “hacker” is more of a script kiddie, and a script kiddie is just a troll with a few tools. All the characters in FWZ have a primary goal of disrupting and destroying forums. Posting “in character” just amounts to different styles of trolling.

Moving beyond the “post like your attacks say you would”... Let’s be honest. In the wild, Camwhores get mocked by trolls, and also by hackers, and also by emo kids, and even by other camwhores. It is not “out of character”. Anyone might post an offtopic post in a thread – and on most other forums, they won’t get banned for it – at most, the offtopic comments might get deleted.

I can understand that people would be sensitive to comments about their own actual pictures. All the same, anyone posting pics in front of this community thinking that they will get only love and puppies is p crazy. As far as “disrupting a good thread” goes… well, that’s both subjective and kinda hypocritical when spamming and trolling and off-topic posts are allowed in RP threads that don’t involve player nudity. In non-RP forums, the trolling, etc, is outlawed. In RP, it seems to be encouraged except in arbitrarily determined cirgreat timesstances. So, yeah, people are unhappy.

The real problem on these forums is that people seem to feel the need to push the damn boundaries constantly, then **** when they get punished for it, requiring others to demand clearcut rules for subjective judgment calls… and they blur the line between RPing the worst of internet behaviour, and typifying it. Pretty much every damn debate I’ve seen on moderation has revolved on that same point. I don’t envy you guys one ****ing bit.

TL;DR: The mods suck, and the players suck. Everyone sucks, including me.

I was deciding on sticky threads almost single-handedly before even tubs was a mod. “Girllss… post yer mammary glands!!” and “ITT: Shoe on Head pics!” seemed to me to be quintessential “camwhore” threads and as such, I stickied them. It had nothing to do with being “good” or not, it had to do with defining the clbum. Similarly, I stickied “ANGRY HOBO’S EMPORIUM OF GOATSES” in the Trollhole because posting goatse seems to be a defining Troll quality.

When people came along and started trolling up the camwhore ones, I thought to myself “Trolls go everywhere on this site, but the other clbumes don’t. I’d like to protect the “defining” threads from incursion. One or two threads per RP forum like that shouldn’t be a big deal. Let’s see what ET thinks,” and that’s when the rule was born.

Over time I added “ITT: Post Your male reproductive organ or Vag” and ”:emote:” to the list because I thought the former qualified, and the latter I wanted to protect for an eventual move into FoW.

It worked pretty well, no complaints, until more threads became stickied as new personalities gained the ability. I personally would never have stickied “Post your forehead with some short bangs” or “Worst Poster Idol!”, but someone else (I don’t know who) did, and so it became protected.

Clearly, there’s subjectivity involved, and we mods should probably discuss what should and should not be stickied when there’s protection involved. But I’ll fight hard against removing the protection.

I see where you’re coming from entirely, and I think your response makes clear that you see where player complaints are coming from. As I said, I don’t envy you guys one damn bit. No matter how carefully you make a subjective judgment call, it’s going to look arbitrary to some people and they’ll try to make a big deal about the supposed “line”. Maybe there needs to be some other way of marking a “clbum defining” thread, or maybe there needs to be some sort of place to shift things that shouldn’t be postlocked in FoW, but are clbumic and awesome. Glad to see that the real concern is already in consideration, and sorry if I missed it elsewhere.
