Hokay, so. I’ve got a hacker alt. Great guy. But I am really trying to figure out what the best layout for him is, since you can’t use UP for Pp. The hardware for example: do I choose the nice cables that give me offense, defense and luck? Or do I go for the hardware that gives me +100 Pp?

For the level 35 hackers amongst us; what are your stats and are you able to take on lvl 35 forums without using any consumables for your Pp? Would you suggest huge offense, which means less attacks needed for a thread, and thus using less Pp, or more Pp, which means more attacking, but not running out as quickly?

I am not even halfway there yet, but I’d like to know in advance, so I can focus on getting the right files.

but for pwning lower level forums I only rely on my ripro for PP, bringing my total PP to 170.

I think because hacker is so slow defense is more important, but not so important as to take precedence over offense.

Tip: the surgery is a good PP booster, you only have to sacrifice 50 ego and that’s not much. Also, don’t bother with PP increasing equipments.

Okay…so what do you suggest .moar file wise? The ripro and the recscan being p obvious.

I am just a bit torn sometimes, between choosing something that gives me extra Pp, but only +3 or +4 in any stat, and other things that might give me +6 in every stat, but no Pp.

If I were to respec, I might spend 3 more upgrade points on another level of egomania in exchange for one less level of offense. All upgrade points spent on either egomania, offense, or upkeep (the remainder of the UP modulo 3.)

This works pretty well, I can usually pwn level 35 forums at max threads without consumables.

Edit: I also have a π tattoo that I wish I could equip for thematic reasons, but cannot.

Once you have enough PP from .moar files you can just use 4 beastor cables. Also if you’re hunting for .moar files remember to boost your luck.

with Democrats, Random Keystrokes (sometimes exchanged for a Mitnick), Earbleeders, 4 Beast0rs, Pink Floyd. Scars, Rectumscan, Finger Implant and Ripro.

I just did the top 4 forums, used about 10 drugs or so in total. I actually have more trouble with the lvl33 than the lvl35 forums, takes longer to kill them.

Power up with a full set of beastorz. Then get yourself .moars to keep your processing power up. You shouldn’t have too much trouble getting your offense up to 150-160, which will get your strength pretty high.

Another tip, I have 4 of those hard drives with +15 off/def but no luck boost as well as the beastors so I can change my luck to what ever I want it (from 1 to about 70) just by equip changes (I don’t have the starter packs). Handy when you’re file grinding.

Edit: The hard drives are also cheaper to repair.

Yeah, Hackers can tweak their luck like no other clbum. And that can be useful.
