Have you guys noticed the somewhat scammy nature of the ads lately? I mean, look at this:

Seriously, what do you think “COMMUNITY ADS” means? I honestly doubt these were purchased by anyone remotely involved with Forumwarz let alone flamebate. Either moderators are not screening ads for potential scams or someone (or something) is purchasing and approving ads with (or without) CZ’s knowledge. Either way, something fishy is going on here and I want to see some answers.

TL;DR: Something’s not right about those ads, I’m calling foul play.

Can I spend 10 BP making 10 copies of the same ad?

Someone who is registered at the site paid BP to place the ads. I approved a bunch of them. Community ads are ads by the community, not about the community.

It’s a dollar fifty an ad; a dollar at the lowest, for only one week of exposure. That’s some pretty expensive advertising for the internet. I’m not sure why people run them, but they’re paying a pretty penny.

Agreed.

No, PANTS didn’t buy any of them. Some of them are from someone who signed up, never played, bought BP, and used them to make an ad.

It depends on who you consider a member of our community. For all I know, the person whose ads you approved have only just registered, purchased BP and ads to websites solely designed to swindle gullible patrons. I do realise some of these ads may not necesserally be about the game or happenings on the forum or marketing anything at all (i.e. amusing videos on youtube). These are just plain old-fashioned scams.

Ummm…. No.

First, I can’t remove (or edit) ads. Hopefully at some point mods will get that ability.

Second, if you feel something is a scam, don’t participate.

I check out every link that comes through (that someone else doesn’t approve/reject first). If something were harmful (a browser hijacker, for instance, or a malware-intalling site), it doesn’t go through.

Fine, if you can’t do anything about these current ads in particular can you at least make sure they don’t keep appearing? I’m sure it doesn’t sound very serious to most people because they’re smart enough to stay away from this sort of **** but I can’t speak for everyone on FW.

No.

Reasons, above. If you don’t like them, don’t click them.

Also moderate BP revenue. Don’t try to be a hero to the little people on the internet. And stop caring, it will do you some good.

So if I bought double the amount of ads that are running, I would have my ads exposed 2/3 of the time against 100ks of impressions a day.

I never knew those ads come with a male reproductive organed gun that will blow your brains out if you don’t click them.

Forumwarz is a parody of Internet culture (or so it says in the almighty wiki), so are you saying you click every ‘omg you are our 1000000000th visitor!’ ad you see anywhere else too?

Forumwarz is being advertised on Failblog, so I really don’t see why Failblog shouldn’t be able to advertise on Forumwarz. As long as they pay for it.

If you think they’re so bad go to http://www.forumwarz.com/options and uncheck “Show Forumwarz Community Ads”

Problem solved.

The whole point of community ads is to advertise stuff. I think it’s cute that people are using the service to advertise scam sites. It’s funny and ironic imo.

the ads aren’t just for advertising forumwarz stuff.
