I love my iPod, but I have to say I’m a PC man all the way. |

Windows has infected my muscle memory with all of its shortcuts and ways of doing stuff, re-learning that kind of stuff would just be awkward and annoying. Not that I would want to sign up for the cult of Jobs in any case.
I prefer to build PCs from parts, this is not conducive to Apple’s “you do not want or need to ever open the shiny white case” philosophy. I have a bunch of odd little bits of software that make my computer more useful, I doubt they have Mac versions. I know what I’m doing, I don’t need to have things made “user-friendly” (read: idiot-proof). Everything on my PC really does “just work” already.
So yeah, basically I’m a Windows user for the foreseeable future. But XP only, I will be damned if I’m going near Vista, and I have little to no interest in Windows 7. Sooner or later it’ll get old and clunky and stuff won’t support XP any more, but I’m banking on Linux being a proper alternative by that point. |

I have a 4g and a 30g Ipod. The only reason I have them because I have a woman's genitals, an ex boyfriend gave me his old 30g. One of my friends is using until she gets a better PC mostly bc her mac was a pos and she sold it and got a lap top. The 4g I got from my parents with the cable to hook it up to my car CD player they got me like 4 years ago for Xmas that they got for free at there company Xmas party as a door prize and it hasn’t left my car almost 3 years other to update music and then to find that i tunes has eaten what ever it was that I wanted to put on it and then i have to reload and update i tunes and it just a big huge pain |

Mac OSX is a solid OS, and with OSx86, you don’t need a Mac to run OSX. I would have it running on my HP laptop if this ****ty Phoenix BIOS would let me change 1 setting.
And @ your sticking with XP comment, have fun. Skyman747 edited this message on 08/07/2009 4:18PM |

i absolutely ****ing love my macbook. only downside is the fact you can quite literally cook on the ****er, and the fan can make ticking noises when it gets too hot.
as the “PC only” **** that Microsoft losers go on about? Bootcamp + an old copy of XP ****s all over your argument. I have Windows Media Centre on mine to use the Xbox 360 as a Hi Fi.
Also, Safari > Firefox |

i hate my macbook.. i spent £600 of my own money on this thing (and that’s exVAT) .. that’s like 100 hours of working, and it’s ****ty, anyone who’s heard me on skype knows the noise it makes, it’s mbumively hot, i’ve had the whole keyboard replaced (thankfully the total shutdown of all keys was 10 days within warranty) i’ve had to reload the OSX software 4 times cause it crashes all the frickin’ time,
and now to top it all off, the battery is dead, and i can’t use it unless it is plugged into the wall..
although i have got a 2nd generation 4GB red ipod nano, and that’s p. sexy.

That’s something I wondered about with MacBooks. They advertise a full metal body, but I would think that would attract heat a helluvalot better than plastic.

On OS X, yes. On Windows, not so much. |

Just noticed that the plastic next to the trackpad cracked on my macbook, but seems apple are fixing this as it happens to a lot of people. Hope i can fix it in time for school. |

Skyman747 Posted: “Attracting” heat has nothing to do with it. The components inside the case will produce the same amount of heat no matter what material they use, the only difference is what happens when the hot air hits the inside of the case. Plastic is a crappy conductor and will do a good job of trapping the heat inside the case (except for where there’s a fan blowing hot air out through a hole) which may not be a problem… unless that fan hole gets blocked for a while or there’s a powerful CPU in there, in which case ****’s going to start to overheat, which is a Bad Thing™ Metal is a good conductor and will allow heat to come out through the case instead of more-or-less only leaving when a fan tells it to. This will mean you can have a more powerful computer in there without melting your processor, but the heat still has to go somewhere, and if it’s all coming out through the metal body of the case then it may or may not give you 3rd degree burns to the general leg/crotch area. Depends what your priorities are I guess… |

Also, I use an older Mac just for InDesign and such. A lot of the design programs magically turn into super-bloatware when used on PCs.
Macs are for work. PCs are for bootlegging and games and fun. |

Just got my macbook back from the shop, it smells so good and it’s not all fatty any more! They changed the topcase, trackpad and keyboard. All that for a small crack!

My cat decided to sleep on mine one day when I left it open, I guess because it’s warm or whatever. Anyways she ripped a few keys out with her claws and the E key lost its springiness. I was amazed that they replaced all the stuff they did on yours for that. Also I went in right before Apple Care was up because the optical drive entrance was kinda smushed and they replaced that + all the same stuff again because of a small chip on the corner. I wish I’d had the money to lengthen Apple Care before it ran out because they didn’t fix the optical drive right Log in to see images! |
