In cases where there are multiple brackets that a player is suited for, randomness.

As I was looking to cram my alts into the same bracket, I noticed something: The first set of 0 medal brackets are cycled through, adding 1 player each time. Sand Zone, Egg Corridor, Jade Sloth, Mustard Newt, Aperture Science, ****ING FURfabulous personS, Rose Zebra. That exact order, every time. All I had to do was wait for some player to land in Mustard Newt, and then get my alt a scoop. Now, if the cycle was somewhat less predictable, I wouldn’t have been able to cram anywhere near 6 alts in.

Let’s use the set of brackets I mentioned earlier. The set of brackets is randomized, to, like, Aperture Science, Rose Zebra, Jade Sloth, Egg Corridor, Mustard Newt, ****ING FURfabulous personS, Sand Zone. Players that get scoops are added in this sorted order, until each bracket has a player, at which point the set is randomized again, to ****ING FURfabulous personS, Egg Corridor, Jade Sloth, Mustard Newt Aperture Science, Sand Zone, Rose Zebra. Repeat this randomization until we reach 25 players in each bracket, or however it’s determined when a bracket is full.

While this wouldn’t solve the problem of getting alts into the same bracket, it certainly wouldn’t be as damn easy to cram ‘em in there.

So the problem isn’t that our system is broken.. the problem is that you’re trying to get your alts in the same bracket and our system allows you to do that (with a little patience)? Why don’t you… I don’t know… stop trying to group them together, if that’s what you want.

This method will only work until your alts start getting medals.. once they get medals they will get placed in a bracket based on how many medals they have. I’m vying to get “level” and “cred” considered for bracket selection as well.. but if all your alts are the same level, this change would do nothing.

So… randomizing would only work for the first week, after that you’d end up where you deserve to be.

Limiting alts from being in the same bracket could put you into inactive brackets where you have a huge advantage. So…

Perhaps putting a limit on the number of alts you can use in Domination will put an end to exploiting this to the level it is being exploited at now.

i think domination should be we all throw money at evil trout, and whoever throws the most money gets the scoops

in all seriousness, from my observations i think that any disscussion about this topic seems to divide people into two camps; one group feeling that, if you buy an alt, you should get to play with it, and another group feeling that players with more money shouldn’t get an advantage. both valid points, i guess.

Really, I like that suggestion about total scoops earned by the bracket determining how many medals are awarded. That’s kinda designed to fix the whole inactive bracket thing, no?

Yes, and that’s what I’m going to aim to have implemented. That way, even if you do end up in a bracket with your alts there should be enough medals to go around. And if you try to game the system then there won’t be enough medals to make it worth while.

And that reason is exactly why CZ need to be *alot* more responsive when flaws are revealed than they have been up to now.
