hey so in the spiirit of the last pbum the bp i am looking for information here
i need a few valid charter cable mac addresses (preferably with decent configs but it doesnt matter as much)
good results will be worth extra bp i guess |

packet sniffing is not of any use to me or the macs in that file, they are v. specific
what i need is an anonymous charter user’s modem mac address (preferably with more than the basic cable internet plan) so i can pretend i have a valid account with charter and steal internet service from them
there is no risk for either party here
also i would prefer if the mac address came from outside california to increase its longevity for me
ironically the stolen internet will be used to provide wireless to a church-affiliated youth/young adult study hall |

Stealing cable internet isn’t like stealing cable. Charter maintains a list of active and inactive MAC addresses which it manages centrally.
If you took a live MAC address, it would conflict with the real device and cause a whole bunch of very noticeable errors that basically tells the admins “HEY! ONE OF THESE TWO MODEMS IS TRYING TO STEAL INTERNET!” along side your name, address, phone number, and etc. This would probably result in getting V& or billed, since Charter is a bag of male reproductive organs like that.
If you took a dead address, the system would just reject it outright thus making it useless to you.
Now that I’ve explained just why this contest is impossible to fulfill as you intended, I’d like to claim that BP so I can get the next pbuming thread going. |

Also you cannot take a MAC address. A MAC address, for those of us who do not know:
Is burned onto your NIC. In other words… It’s part of the Data Link Layer, as a Physical Address, it’s unable to be removed. It’s yours forever. |

Naw, it’s only rarely ‘burned in’; usually they stick it into some EPROM or flash memory. If you know how you can easily change the MAC address of most network devices. |
