EDIT: Undo purchase in conjunction with minrepair no longer works! I’m still leaving the rest of the post up so people who missed it understand what it was about.
The following is nothing really new: however I’m posting this to level the playing field a bit.
So you’ve got broken equipment? Looking at a nasty repair bill? Do you need to fork over thousands of to get your gear up to shape? Hell, no! The Forumwarz gods have given us the power to partially repair items and here’s how we abuse that power.
First thing to realize is that equipment remains fully functional as long as it’s not completely broken. An item that’s repaired for, say 7%, will function identically to a fully repaired item. What we want to do, is repair our items for only 0,5%: the game will display this as 1% and the item will function. To do this, we take 0,5% of the total repair cost and pay that to our friend Bruce Bear.
Problem is that Bruce will take whatever he can when you press that repair bumon. Well, here’s the trick: open a shop (Drugs ‘r Fun makes the most sense) in one tab, and Bruce Bear in another. Now let’s say you want to repair your PruneServ. Its total repair cost is 1249 . The amount we want to pay is 0,5% of that, 6.25 , rounded up: 7 . You buy items from the drugstore until you reach exactly 7 AND DO NOT CLOSE THE TAB, then you refresh Bruce Bear. It should say you have 7 . Now repair your PruneServ. Bruce takes your , and then your switch back to the drugstore to undo your purchase(s) and get your moniez back. Don’t click the undo bumons too quickly because sometimes an item doesn’t properly register and you’re stuck with it. You’ve now repaired your PruneServ for 7 , in stead of 1249 . Yeah, that’s the drawback of the method, you’ll need to keep your flezz low to do it comfortably. I’m certainly not doing it with this character (buying and undoing over 1,000,000 worth of purchases before every visit is err… a bit of a choreLog in to see images! |

I keep my flezz at 0 (simply by not selling items unless I need something) and purchase a bunch of items that sell for the correct amount.
Pruneserv – 1m porno pbumwords (costs 10 , sells for 7 ) Tinted Sunglbumes – Same as above, I’m not going to bother about 2 Harris Piltons / Red Strap-Ons – Asimov OSIX (costs 16 , sells for 13 )
The method described is much more cost effective for the Mona Lisa though. 1 Blunt Trauma + 1 Asimov OSIX sells for 251, but costs 346 + 16 Ming edited this message on 07/13/2008 7:18PM |

It’s worth noting that we’ve known about this for a long time and our official stance is “enjoy it while it lasts” as it will be fixed at some point.
My advice is to not rely on exploits for advancement Log in to see images! |

Which bit is the exploit? The purchase to reduce flezz, then undo purchase? Or the repair to 1% (0.5% rounded up)? Or just keeping flezz at 0, and selling items one by one to repair stuff by small amounts? Or all of these? |

A suggestion: Instead of fixing this like you did renting (by having the game check whether or not you’ve been to Bruce Bear after purchasing items), just get rid of the “undo purchase” idea altogether and allow us to buy items using a form (so we can type in how many items we want, and have to confirm that we want the items before we get them). |
