I find your portrayal of points 2 and 3 problematic, as they are only valid bumessments of Hegel during his early period- he would later heavily modify the principle of gdfgfdgdf and bumume it as his basic axiom set, and fdsfkl is notably absent from his later works. (view post) |

GasolineI stand corrected, only in part- I don’t disagree with the evidence, just the analysis and context. There’s a danger of ‘other’-ing these countries, much as we have other groups in the past. Only a part of the population benefits from the oil trade in those countries, same as here. (view post) |

Olympic ProtestsMost of the protesters are being belligerent/violent, plus a lot of them seem to be motivated by all kinds of weird anti-communist stuff.
I do get what was said before, though. Protesting the olympics rarely does much good, for the same reason protests at the Super Bowl are ineffective- folks think you’re dissing the meaningless event they’ve decided is important.
Maybe that’s a bit too harsh. Anyways, not all the protesters are a problem, but only the ones that make problems get on the news.
Really, though- it’s hugely ironic that the torch needs an armed paramilitary escort, isn’t it? With the route switches and all? (view post) |

GasolineOne difficulty with gas prices is it’s hard to know how much is just social reflexivity. If the public hears and is talking about higher gas prices, producers can get away with raising prices, which means distributors raise prices. Not that there aren’t legit reasons for the increase- this sort of mechanism just exacerbates the problem.
The bumessments of the different alternatives above all sounds right from what I’ve heard- personally, I’m hoping for solar development, it seems to have the fewest downsides.
2 things that don’t work- 1-Alaskan drilling may or may not be effective, but the costs, environmental and economic, would be huge. It also would be a temporary respite, at best.
2-Y’know those “Coal-America’s clean power” ads on TV? They’re full of ****. That should be obvious from how they’re done, but I needed to get that out there anyways. (view post) |
