Goethe is very outdated as much as Dostoevsky. Chekhov is very funny and ironic, I’d say he was a /b/tard if /b/ would exist in that century. Kafka is a bad reading, srsly — as much as Koelho, Bach, Murakami and other pseudo-philosophic literature for 40-yrs virgin girls. Mann is really good, but you don’t need to “study” it — just read it in English. Tolstoy is a 700-page ethics-filled Bible if you take just the War and Peace. Nabokov is a good 1-time reading, pretty sad, unless you’re a pervert or obsessed with OMG MOAAAR LOLIS. Funny thing, Nabokov is pushing his identity so hard into the novel, that it feel like threesome all the time.
Bottomline: I’d say Russian clbumic lit is a bit more interesting than German, but I’d rather study modern literature instead. (view post) |

Hey, Nicco, I don’t think you should be sorry for Germany. From what I remember the terms of capitulation included disbanding German army, which obviously gave a tremendous boost to German industry and everything else, because government didn’t have to spend enormous amount of money on military every year. In a dozen years Germany (Western, obviously) ended as a highly industrial country with one of the best world’s economies. Same story with Japan.
Now imagine what’s gonna happen with U.S. economy if government would stop spending billions on bombs, rockets, droid planes and nuclear silos at least for few months. (view post) |

so i recently started playing the original Doom****, I still remember what idspispopd means and how to open most secrets. Episode 4, lvl 1 had a very unique secret area unlike all others – it was activated by pressing on the torch, which wasn’t highlighted on the map even with idbeholda. I uncovered it by luck – accidentally pressed space bumon in the right place in the right time. (view post) |
