The Many Delicious Flavors of Mocking ReligionI’ve been annoyed as of late with Religion-based forums in forumbuildr, and some harsh words MAY have been exchanged on the subject. So as a way of extending the olive branch of peace to the Religion forums, I will explain how each one is a unique and beautiful snowflake.
Konservative Kristian Koalition: This is actually less about religion and more about prominent religious figures within the kon- sorry, conservative community (do conservatives get a community, or is that word only appropriate for gays and minorities?) Most of all, KKK focuses on homophobia and racism. (Ties to other forums: Site is hosted by Reilly O’Bill, who presumably at least frequents Faux News.)
God Hates Facts: GHF focuses a lot on the anti-intellectual side of religion, with many anti-evolution themes and such. GHF is also arguably the most bitterly hateful religion forum (KKK would’ve taken the cake, but the forumbuilr community apparently operates on a level of depravity that Jalapeno Bootyhole cannot achieve by himself). (Ties to other forums: God Hates facts is mentioned in PrayPal.
PrayPal: If anything, PrayPal is the most good-natured dig at religion of any of them. The members of PrayPal are somewhat naive and willfully ignorant, but unlike any of the other religious forums, they mean well. Members of PrayPal have, at least, the mark of basic human compbumion that one would expect of the pious. That being said, they also seem a little obsessive over the imaginary currency they’ve created for themselves, so maybe they’re just too crazy to be hateful. (Ties to other forums: Posts in PrayPal reference God Hates Facts. It’s apparent by the post that the members of PrayPal are much more forgiving than those at God Hates Facts, and consider them to be loonies.)
Faux News: While some may argue that Faux News is not a religious forum, I disagree. First, it is clearly meant as a parody of the extremely religious and conservative pundits on a certain news network which I will leave unnamed. Second, the fact that it got made into an actual forum is clear proof that there is a god, and he hates all of us. (Ties to other forums: Ban Arktor.)
Church of Saiyantology: This forum is distinct in that it makes fun of Scientology rather than Christianity. It shares little in common with the other religious forums, other than the fact that the posters are still crazy. (Ties to other forums: balls are inert)
Girls Advocating Sexual Purity: Though not strictly about religion, GASP does incorporate it into its jokes; the main reasons why the girls must stay chaste are misinformation and Jesus. It is included mainly because it’s dedication to ignorance makes it a spiritual sister to forums like God Hates Facts. (Ties to other forums: guhhhhh not feeling too good)
Wiccapedia: Wiccapedia isn’t anything like the other religious forums, and is only included on this list form the sake of completeness; it is a religion, after all. (Ties to other forums: Log in to see images!

Internet ConfessionalUnfortunately most of the thread titles are not very good. There are a few gems, but for the most part the subs look more like people’s versions of the Aristocrat joke with madlibs than they do confessions. Of all the categories Typical Posts has the highest quality subs on average this week, but it’s not nearly as cutthroat, and “highest quality on average” is not meant to be a big compliment.
Really, across the board standards have dropped pretty low where wit is concerned on this build. A large numbers of them are just statements about @sex_ act with @ relative, without any effort put towards making them funny. Incest by itself CAN be funny, but you have to at least try to make the delivery funny. And no matter how good the joke is (not very, in this case), it isn’t funny at all when repeated so many times.
And the constant references to @ feces! I thought we already HAD a forum based on fecalphilia, but this one gives That’s A Lot of Feces a run for it’s money. At least Feces had the benefit of being an official forum, and thus had plenty of generic posts and angry replies thrown in to balance the forum. Confessional is going to be The Incest Show Starring Excrement.
Angry Replies is a little better in terms of deviating from those two topics, but it has its own problems. I think the problem here came because whether you consider the build being about a Confessional or a parody of PostSecret, people don’t really respond to the content. It’s hard to imagine what would they say if someone invaded their space because you can’t invade their space.
This doesn’t go for the most of the replies in the top ten… there’s some good ones up there that clearly belong to Internet Confessional. But the majority of the others are absolutely generic. I expect a large number of bad subs in any category of any build, but usually most of the bad subs at least go along with the spirit of the forum. They could be inserted as angry replies in any forum, and they’d more or less blend in. Lots of @ insert_generic and @ insult_homosexual.
In review, Internet Confessional has its moments as a forum idea, especially throughout the Typical Posts. And no matter how bad the idea is, you can almost always count on some really good subs out of Enemies. But the Thread Titles are lackluster and this forum simply wasn’t meant for Angry Replies.
I cant really judge Logos or Styles, but they all seem pretty cool to me. (view post) |

The cool thing about being a real troll is you’re supposed to not have to explain your actions… if you do, you’re the one that has been trolled. Forumwarz Episode 2: Why it will cost moneyTUBSWEETIE Posted: I dunno about the Internet on the whole, but I think a pretty good percentage of the people on Forumwarz (drawn only from the people who are buying Episode 2 already) would go for that.
I don’t like this as a solution, though. While it would generate a little extra income in the short run, it would also breed resentment among the crowd, and bitter people are less likely to buy BP.
Whereas, if it’s first-come first-served (after pre-orders), people will have no one to be bitter at but other members of the community who were quicker on the draw than they are… which would increase pranks, and thus BP sales.
Most of all, giving first dibs to people who pre-order will encourage lots of people to pre-order… which means that instead of a short, mbumive income-dump at release time, Crotch Zombie will get the same amount over time (and starting sooner). Now, it’s none of my business how CZ spends the money they get (it’s okay to buy beers guys it’s for the good of the community), but more money early on *could* help improve the server situation before Episode 2 releases, making things go even easier.
