The rules say “Be sure to preview your entry before submitting.” However, there is no preview function available on this page.
Also that whole “Read through the forumbuildr syntax.” line doesn’t make any sense, what without there being such a thing to read and all.
And “No need to misspell every word. We run all entries through our Unintelligencer™.” Is that done on the forum descriptions themselves? I haven’t seen any indication of that. And there are more…
Basically that whole page needs textual work; it’s a different animal than the other submissions page.

Domination Card Exploit AddressedFYI: In past weeks, I’ve suggested to ET that the entire Domination be reset once all the bugs are worked out. Because yeah, he’s busy working on things like Episode 2 and other enhancements to the site. He’s a busy guy. If only there were more than one of him (ha! Bet that didn’t link to what you thought it would.)
In any case, he said he wouldn’t do such a mbumive reset lightly. But I bet if the community wants it, he would. So my suggestion, which should have no more weight than anyone else’s, would be to keep finding and identifying the exploits, help improve the design of domination as a whole, and then when it’s all looking good, ask for a complete medal reset. That’s how I got my four medals this week. You’re certainly free to try it yourself, waiting until the last day to first enter the game. Maybe it’ll work for you. I certainly was not expecting it to work for me, and just because it did doesn’t mean I’m going to feel bad about it.
It also doesn’t mean I’m going to continue doing it, either, unless I happen to get into an easy bracket again while going for the rest of Veado or whatever the 28 e-peen will be called in another month.
And yes, I realize I could have just bought down all my scoops to cards and avoided all this. But I’m human, and I saw an opportunity to maybe introduce some competition into the bracket I was in, and the medals are shiny. So while I’m not actively pursuing medals as Barely Legal, if some fall into my lap, I can’t promise I won’t put them in my pocket again.
But, jpsteel, I certainly don’t need **** for just enjoying the game, especially **** x 4. If I had intentionally exploited something, then fine, pile **** on me. But that’s not what happened. So let it ****ing drop.
I’m going to go do something else fun now. Hope it doesn’t **** you off too.
On second thought, I don’t care if it ****es you off.

Seriously, people, here’s the deal. I’ve had a crap couple of weeks dealing with modding issues and klan drama, and thought I’d try to actually, y’know, play the game for enjoyment again. So n00b65 was going for medals this week. Only problem was partway into it, I got slammed with another set of modding crap and had to give up a couple of days of forum visits, and in the bracket he was in, I didn’t think I’d honestly have a chance of getting medals. So I gave up with him.
Then yesterday, less than seven hours before the round ended, I said, “Y’know, Barely Legal hasn’t pwned any forums in a week or so. Let’s do some, go for the Veado e-peen.” And the way I do forums, I tend to get lemon scoops. So I was put into a bracket.
After four pwns (and, BTW, a vanilla scoop), I took a look at the bracket and thought, “Huh. A couple of people playing the game and a bunch who aren’t. Well, I’ll keep going towards the e-peen.” So I did. Used up the rest of my visits with eight more pwns, on my way to Veado. Looking again at the bracket, I noticed I was screwing up the people in there. So, I did careful card-buying and playing. Left the guy with most scoops, and the other guy with fave flavor, alone, and ensured that I didn’t take their potential medals away.
I did see an unexpected opportunity, though, I must admit, and I’m human. So I arranged to tie them, and I did steal a scoop from someone who was clearly not playing in order to get the min scoops, but didn’t push it above 1, in case either of the people actively playing decided to try to take me down. And then I was done. Didn’t check back in until way later. If they knocked me down, great! If they didn’t, great! Didn’t matter to me.

Barely Legal's TrophiesFor those of you who enjoy soap operas (wink at Midge)
I had a theory as to why I got put on such a non-competitive team last week. I talked to ET and he basically confirmed it. Without going into any further details — AND DON’T ASK, I won’t do it — I’ve decided that Barely Legal will not be playing for medals for herself for the foreseeable future. If someone winds up close enough to threaten my leadership position (like, within one or two medals of doing so), I’ll probably join back in. She will be trying to help Sisters, though, if the opportunity arises — she’s just not going to be playing for herself.
And n00b65 might start competing again; I haven’t decided on that yet.
Read into this what you will. I won’t say any more (although I will say that it has nothing — nothing — to do with my being a mod.)

I realize there’s a lot of resentment. So let me clarify some things, because I have no desire to perpetuate resentment through silence. If you want to resent me, please do so for facts, not for speculation.
This post is easily going to fall into the tl;dr category. But it’ll all be out here and it should end the speculation, and then I can go back to doing other, more fun things than defending myself.
noob65 was my first character, a troll. I enjoyed the game tremendously and donated money to try as a camwhore, Barely Legal.
Then domination came into play. First week or two, Dudley Donkers took advantage of the Antifreeze exploit, and got a bunch of medals. Both my alts got a few. Then antifreeze was fixed.
After that, I found both noob65 and Barely Legal on the same team. I notified ET that I didn’t think it should work that way, and continued to play. I decided that the camwhore would have better luck in the future trying to get medals so I focused on Barely Legal, using the exploit to my advantage, as anyone who had two characters and lucked out into having them both on the same team could have.
Somewhere in here I bought another alt, Why Bother, to play the game as an emo kid. Why Bother’s IC attitude is “Eh, why bother?” and that’s how I use him for metagame things as well. So he doesn’t play Domination at all. Except for one week when he accidentally found himself in a group of non-players because (I think) he got a pistachio scoop, and was tied for one scoop with a bunch of other people (before the tie “exploit” was fixed).
Anyway, after a couple of weeks of exploiting the multi-alt-on-the-same-team thing, I decided it was unfair, and when they were plopped on the same team again, sat n00b65 out entirely. Barely Legal still got a medal or two.
Then ET fixed the multi-character exploit and Barely Legal still managed to get a couple of medals, and was decidely leading the medals board. Meanwhile noob65 was doing mostly Flamebate, helping people out, trying to figure things out, etc.
It was at this point that n00b65 was made a moderator.
After that, the Sisters started putting together vanilla runs, and Barely Legal joined them. She’s helping out with other klan activities, but hasn’t participated in any raids, and isn’t likely to due to timing considerations. And she did benefit from the raids. There’ve been two weeks where that happened. The first, she had competition in the team, and played the game well again, and got some medals. (She actually had tried to share one by tying, but timing didn’t work out. And while I’m on that topic, there were other weeks when she could have taken all the medals herself but did allow a tie.)
The second week, last week, she somehow wound up on a relatively inactive team, with no other sisters or FoL’ers. There was one other real competitor on the team, (VAMPIREVILLE), but he didn’t contact me asking if I could try to make it fairer, so while I felt bad for him, I also didn’t feel an obligation to initiate discussion. If he had, I would have bought down all the klan vanilla scoops to cards, tried to keep track of which those were so I didn’t play them, and changed my strategy. I’m pretty sure I still would’ve gotten 2 medals, maybe all 4.
Now the vanilla exploit is fixed, and I’m unlikely to get any again because of my real-world timing issues. We’ll see what happens.
The final fact I’d like to mention is yes, as a moderator, I do have a number of other alts, which I use for testing. They all have taken cheats and are therefore completely disqualified from being used to my advantage in Domination. My only characters playing it are Barely Legal competitively, and n00b65 who dabbles, but might get back into it.
So yes, I have a lot of medals. Yes, I used exploits at times which everyone else could’ve used too. But I don’t cheat. I play the game as it’s available to anyone else. I just really luck out with my team placement. As long as there’s a random element involved, I guess the RNG is favoring me.
I think I’ve now said all I feel I need to. No, I’m not going to reveal my strategies, I figured them out on my own and deserve to benefit from them until someone else figures them out, or comes up with better ones (I’m sure there are better ones). And if — if — I have, or come up with, any strategies which I feel are exploits, you can be sure I’ll be telling ET about them. (view post) |

A little bit of both, plus some good timing and luck. And no, I wasn’t involved in Beta testing — there was no Beta Testing, outside of Crotch Zombie. I started playing the first week it was available. Amd I have some strategies which I haven’t seen announced anywhere else, which seem to be working so I’m going to stick with them. We’ll see what happens.
I did take advantage of an exploit for I think two weeks. But then so did the people who used gamblebot the first week, or who used cheaters on vanilla runs recently. And I believe that without those, I’d have only about 4 or 5 fewer medals. The system is in flux, as Crotch Zombie sees how things work and tweaks it, so who knows what other exploits may be discovered and — well, exploited. (view post) |
