Kyoubai I just realized is doing an interesting thing.

It’s also demonstrating which moar files are effectively ‘too rare’. There’s a good deal of top tier moar files that have absolutely zero auctions, even in this environment where they’re going for ridiculous amounts.

Examples (taken from the +7 bracket or so):

Rather than these going for ridiculous amounts, they’re not going for anything. Dunno, find that kind of interesting. I think Kyoubai will give a fairly accurate ‘availability’ picture, since any that’s available and high tier will be sold there.

I’m only 4 pieces away from having Pink Floyd. Would anyone that has it be ok with me just buying the last 4 pieces, whereas they had to grind forever to get it? And there’s something else to consider. If you have completed the file, you probably only need a piece or two to get it again. Selling the second full file would be worth WAY more flezz, making all the grinding you’ve done more worth wild.

Except the last 1-5 pieces are the most tedious part. It intrinsically betters the game for folks to be able to say “You know what, I’ll get rid of some of my excess flezz instead of spending another 30 visit on the last bits”. Bragging rights? “Hey jerks, I sat around camping this forum for 4 weeks instead of 2. And I didn’t even get an epeen.” Folks grinding for these things literally have nothing better to buy.

Also for some clbumes (hacker, permanoob?), it’s practically a necessity to play the 33 and up forums.

What percentage of the folks playing the post game can even approach the level 35 forums and not get swatted? 2 percent? How many of those already are sitting on floyd as the foundation of their abilities?

Fix Hackers

They also kind of get nailed hard on luck. The hacker build is entirely based around having a really high luck…

while most the best moar files in the game for hackers (and the best moar file in the game) are low luck drops(?). Or at least, all the conversation and wiki seems to say they are. It makes having the highest luck feel really stupid Log in to see images! (view post)

If you like I’ll go back in and find the levels of each I upgraded to, but I believe with Pink Floyd, Ripro, and earbleeders, you should be able to handle 35s as long as you boost your ego above 6000.

Thanks. That matched my suspicion that a good a hacker build in fact is heavily ego based. When I gave a try on a 35 forum I was getting hit for 460 a turn, which is pretty much not consumable.

Petition To make ForumWarz Open Source

Engines aren’t games. Applications aren’t games. Creative media has largely failed in all occurances in the open source area. There are many articles lambasting the open source movement for not being able to demonstrate effective game products using that methodology. You see the same problems with User Focused design in Open Source since it is largely lead by programmers and emphasis on input checkins determining direction. It’s not a suitable development methodology for games.

Speedrun jobs are impossible for lower levels

I still generally don’t bother with them. They’ve always been mostly in the ‘almost undoable’ range for barely any extra cash.

Speedruns get removed from the boards in two weeks?

It also does the reverse: It makes speed running rewarding by avoiding locking up forums for long periods of time with ridiculously fast times for even a scoop of lemon.

Suggestion: an "Extract All" bumon for .moar files

It’s definitely a place that would benefit strongly from more development time.
