Ask DrakodanAm I for or against capital punishment: This ones relative. I’m mostly against, but I agree that its an acceptable option for some special cases. I generally feel like capital punishment is a cheap and easy way out, since lifelong imprisonment in isolation is a worse punishment than death. Ask DrakodanWhat is the central theme of Confessions of a Humorist: Wow. I just read this, and was pretty impressed. At face value, it sounds like finding your vocation, and sacrificing your life for it, finding nothing but misery and lust for more. I don’t know about it being a metaphor for Capitalism, I’d have to study it a bit more.
The central message, to me, is basically “Take it easy”. Chances are I’m wrong, but again, I’d need to look over it a few more times.

Human Nature: Perfectable? Nature VS Nurture
The two main ‘views’ of human nature can be seen in the opposite ends of the political spectrum; one side believes that humans are perfectable, and that we can live as moral, harmonious beings. The other side believes that humans are inherently evil, and require forceful governing to keep them in check.
This goes hand in hand with the theory of nature VS nurture; one side argues that humans are NATURALLY evil, the other argues that we can be NURTURED to be ‘good’. Whilst both of these claims hold water to a certain extent, there is a lot of grey area, as seen in contemporary society. Impoverished people met with cruelty can grow up to be model personalities, whilst people born into rich families with everything provided for them can equally become sociopathic serial killers. A study along this vein would examine theories posed by various experts, as well as observations to attempt to conclude if one of these views is correct, or whether both are equally likely to happen.
