I’ve been kicking this idea around for a while, and I think it’s good enough to see the light of day.

In a nutshell, CZ could implement “better” internet packages for a certain amount of flezz every week/month. While these subscriptions wouldn’t (and couldn’t) have any effect on actual site performance, they could be coded to shave a set amount of time off all your forum runs. For example, upgrading from the “standard” service to a higher tier might cost 100000 flezz a week, but would shave 3 seconds off all speedrun times.

Since speedruns are based on player times, the more people ran forums with “better” internet packages, the lower the 3 scoop times would fall. Regular players would lose nothing by sticking with the basic free package, but competitive players (which are usually the ones with boatloads of flezz) would have to keep spending flezz to gain that advantage (or merely keep up). There could even be contracts, where you’d have to be billed for a certain service for a couple months, so people couldn’t just pay the fee one week to compete and go back to money whoring the next.

Obviously I have no idea how hard this would be to implement, but I think it’d serve as both a strategic tool for competitive players and a means to suck out some of the excess flezz.

MOOOOOS ARE BELOW ME

I actually like this idea. A lot of times I get screwed on speeedruns due to the fact that am playing at a high traffic time (ie. Wednesday night between 8 and 9). Which in turn screws me out of several seconds on the time and scoops.

Hm, I like it too. I’d cap the speedrun advantage around 3 seconds, though. If you get much higher than that, you’ll risk seriously unbalancing gameplay. 100k/week is a good amount, too – everyone at the endgame can afford it, and it’s a noticeable amount removed from the economy.

I agree with the porn master, this proves a problem we need a special server to kick in on Wednesdays.

Because speed run times are already variable depending on connection speed, which browser they are using, thread count, and lag. I don’t see what the benefit of this is since it will just keep the status quo.

If enough people that consistently run the forums at the fastest times all of a sudden can shave 3-5 seconds off their times every time, the speedrun times would drop. Not purchasing the upgrade could put the dedicated dom player at a disadvantage. The dedicated dom players generally have bum-tons of money. This is a flezz sink that targets the right audience and could actually have an effect on gameplay.

This doesn’t give the dedicated domination players any advantage. They are already have the fastest speed runs. This will have the bigger effect on the ones in the middle with slower computers, or non-offense orientated builds, that are lucky to get one or two lemon scoops.

Although this is probably a good idea (I am not a high level, see my level), but I may have foreseen a problem that I would like to tweak. From what I have read, you will be charged, as just a mere example, let’s say Log in to see images!1000 every Sunday or the first day of the month, correct? The problem in this is that serious auctioneers and others may not have the flezz on Sunday or the first day of the month. Thus, if say, Player A had their subscription canceled because they didn’t have the flezz on Sunday, but on Monday, they ended up having more than enough flezz to pay the subscription.

Even though you probably didn’t think of this problem, the best way to solve this would be to have a store, much like all the other stores on ForumWarz where you can purchase your internet service such as:

38k (Everyone has this)

56k

DSL

Cable

T1

T3

And then, after they purchase the said item (or service), the game will automatically have a counter that runs for the specific time, either a week, or a month. It’s not really a problem, but I wanted to elaborate.

Also, I don’t think that the speedrun time should be cut down by an exact number, say 3 seconds. It should be percentage based, as I would bumume on easier forums, 3 seconds can make QUITE the difference. If it was percentage based, all forums would stay equal based on internet service speedrun time.

In addition, one last thing. I would love to see a “double-edged” sword internet service. To take DSL into example, DSL is sometimes faster than Cable, but is sometimes slower. Users that purchase DSL may shed a percentage of their forum speed time, but sometimes, may increase their forum speed time. However, DSL may be cheaper than the other internet services. Users that don’t want to shed the big buck flezz may want to choose DSL.

edit: Although I have elaborated on your idea, please keep in mind that your idea in general is a double-edged sword itself. Although it surely is a flezz sink, at the same time, the people who can most likely afford the internet service at such high prices would be the dedicated already professional players. As someone has stated earlier, the lower and middle clbum players would be at a disadvantage, and they already are. Even if you cut the amount of flezz so that everyone could afford it, no one would be winning either on the leaderboards because everyone would have relatively the same time. HOWEVER, it would STILL create a flezz sink. So, if you just want a flezz sink, bring all the internet service fees down so everyone can afford it.
