Every season, it’s going to take half the season for raider fabulous persons to be placed into their little niches. Can’t you have grouping take place based on total medals from all seasons? It makes sense. |

It really does, people who are in non-raiding klans and just got lucky in their pod to win 4 medals, will be placed in a pod full with people that do raids and the last minute card spam. |

Last month or so i haven’t played dom because of end time + sleep + job = not so much fun but i do raid still as i enjoy it, and this can’t be fun for the people in the team i was playing with last week: http://tinyurl.com/588mls
Sorry for tinyurl but theres no other way to link it on this forum. Echuu edited this message on 06/25/2008 10:11AM |

I’d concur with this general bumessment.
There are a handful of hardcore players and if they are in a bracket by themselves they tend to win pretty much automatically.
Seeding based on total medals would allow mid ranked players from non-raiding klans to have a shot of medaling on occasion. |

It wouldn’t help anything. People who are in non-raiding klans would just be placed into the raiding bracket the week after they won their mid-bracket domination round. |

Well there are quite a few people with between 2-10 total medals. Perhaps someone with 10 total medals winning 4 medals would put them in the highest bracket the following week but perhaps not.
The other solution of course is to nerf klan vanilla once more but there seems to be no real desire to do that… |

The medal grouping idea sounds like a very decent one. It kind of defeats part of the idea of Dom seasons, but it can be really harsh when the range of medals (and therefore Dom experience) in a 1 medal bracket is actually anywhere from 1 to 13+ medals. |

Makes sense. Oh wait – I have 13 trophies, that means top bracket… Strop it! This idea is ridiculous, totally unfair! Strop it now! |

the only hope people like me have in such brackets is tons and tons of bumholes… which then makes us into jerks and ultimately fails anyway

There is a list of people in the top 3 brackets who are raiding and have 10 or fewer total medals. In other words, this is why this won’t work at all in the short term. All it takes is one raider in a non-raider bracket to completely dominate.
Now, it might work in the long term. However, I see a few flaws with it: 1) People waiting until the start of a new domination season to earn medals, so that they can be #1 for that season without ever having to enter a top-medaller bracket. 2) This change would allow, for example, a top-medaller’s newly-made alt to stay in low-medal brackets for a longer period of time, essentially perpetuating the problem. Honestly I’m not an accurate person to be using. Yes I have 10 medals and am I member of Episode 2 Beta but I joined this week and all my previous medals were earned as a solo player in a solo klan just like your tarman.
There are tons of reasons why people are noncompetitive in domination: not in a competitive klan, target of a competitive klan, in a competitive klan but unable to raid as often as other players, focused on non-domination aspects of the game.
Changing the bracketing system wouldn’t fix the underlying issues that plague domination but they might alleviate some of the symptoms. However you are right there are going to be less competitive members of competitive klans that are going to dominate the lower medal brackets. Further there are going to be players like Scully, Pickled, Myself and even you that have access to a large number of very competitive alts that are going to be perpetually pushed into less competitive brackets.
Further as the majority of episode 2 beta and brainfreeze are getting cleared out of the scrub brackets there are going to be a large number of players from enjoy and 70 character storytellers that get medals in the next couple of weeks. Some will get 4 medals and get placed in the top bracket and they will be screwed for the next month or so. |

I’m sure we agree that something needs to be changed. Still, it seems to me that no matter what method of grouping you use, the people who dominate lower brackets will inevitably end up in higher brackets.
That being said, I have to admit, your argument’s swayed me. I suppose it might be a nice change for the rest of the domination season. Regardless, I still feel that keeping such a system intact for more than one season would simply cause problems; but hopefully there will be some kind of solution before the end of the season. Allowing people with lots of medals to fall back down every new season is a ****ing terrible idea, because then casuals get raped and can’t get medals. If you start winning lots of medals, of course you’re going to end up with the big boys. But you deserve it for having so many medals. The domination season idea would stay intact, since only medals from that season would count for the end-of-the-season e-peens. It takes most of the season for people to be placed where they should be, anyways. And the “this doesn’t work in the short term” argument is ****ing stupid. Using only medals earned from this season for placing makes it so it can only be done in the short term, as seasons don’t last long enough for a whole “long term” scenario. |

One or two weeks is too much anyway. Saying there are 20 groups, and bumuming medal vets are spread out among all of them, that’s 80 robbed medals each week until the top 2 or 3 groups are sorted out. |
