nice thread. many interesting looking books have been added to my ever growing to-be-read-after-this-one list.
dying inside by robert silverberg Log in to see images!
after a lifetime of using his innate telepathy for nothing much, the protagonist’s ability begins to fade. nominated for the nebula, hugo and locust award back in 72, it’s a quick read with a unique take on an old idea. |

To balance out all the posters trying to appear civilized, I’ll just throw in a couple of books for regular Joes just looking for a fun read.
Sax Rohmer: The Insidious Dr. Fu Manchu Ever read a book you thought was racist? This is more so. A clbumic of pulp literature.
Ken Follet: The Pillars of the Earth Nothing fancy about it, just a damn fine book spanning a couple of generations of people building a cathedral.
...and show myself a ponce like the rest: Geoffrey Chauser: The Canterbury Tales Basically daytime TV in middle English. |
