so google finance is beautiful. free service lets you “deposit” money and then place transactions.
Finance is where fortunes are made and lost (mostly lost). If you have a google account, it’s an easy business to deposit a fake 10k, then “buy” (using the “add a transaction” feature) stocks at their price and have that reflected in your overall balance. Using these tools it would be a very easy matter to have a forumwarz contest to see who could have their money grow the most over a set period of time, say a month.
I’d do this as a proper contest but unfortunately there’s no way to verify you were telling the truth.
Anyone interested?

Yeah sounds like a good idea for a contest but you can just keep making “deposits” so. Anyway sounds like fun. |

some tips
Some people think we’re at the top of a serious gold price bubble. Find a short fund and buy a few shares right now and hold them for a few days and watch them blow up. Shorting is dangerous long term though, as the general trend of the market is up.
The market is very volatile right now. I personally think we’re headed for at least a modest correction over the next month or two, which would mean it’s a good time to go short on some stuff.
Look up QQQQ, EWZ and TYH. Those are three that are p interesting. |

Fort, I think you need to lose the trailing slash in your URL, otherwise it seems to 404. |

My grandfather has made an obscene amount of money trading stocks and commodities, and last summer he spent like 5 hours a day with me teaching me finance.
My first buy lost me $1000 but the second one so far has profited by about $2,200. :3
I would participate in this, but it requires me to do my homework about buys and whatnot, because I don’t wanna just run in blindly and guess at stuff, and I just don’t have the time for that right now. Shii edited this message on 12/05/2009 1:29AM |
