If you don’t feel like reading it, here’s the gist.

Evony is likely a front for a chinese gold farming company. Their game is very buggy. They make most of their money off of selling in-game items, much the same way that say Habbo or Maple Story does. They’re well known for their sexy, spammy, cheaply made ads featuring images of models shopped out of costume catalogs. Now they’re suing Bruce Everiss, an Australian game marketer, because he wrote a bunch of negative articles about them.

And to top it off, they recently added a special “utility” that you have to download and install which “is an application that you download into your PC to invite your friends to join the game in exchange for in game rewards. This could very well be a Trojan designed to harvest email addresses messenger pbumwords and much else. Would you trust a Chinese gold farmer inside your computer? Many gullible people are.”

no, it’s a bit different. FWZ doesn’t, strictly speaking, require payment for a good chunk of game functionality. It’s also generally functional. Evony, these articles contend, is not generally functional. It also requires payment for basic game functions, like sending messages to other players. That would be a bit like FWZ charging people per tubmail.

So, you want CZ to drop Evony’s ads because you found one guy with a seemingly obscure blog who made five posts about how they’re evil? Are there any articles in mainstream game magazines about them?

Considering those magazines generally come out once a month, I doubt you’ll see any articles in them for at least that period of time.

The ads are all over all icanhascheezburger sites. Enough that I googled them and found the complaints. Not going there.
