12 hours only. http://www.forumwarz.com/auctions/show/268458-master-ball I bought a bunch of these that I’ll be auctioning with no reserves to try and break the stranglehold that some players have on the market. |

This price is going a little higher than I’d like. Keep in mind that I bought a bunch to sell, and did not plan to profit from this. If the price gets to high for you, wait till after this one and I’ll post another. |

... but there’s clearly no stranglehold anymore. tons of folks bought extra to potentially profit off of, and selling @ no markup is just kind of sticking it to those “investors”. if you want to give some of em away at a low price, go for it. i sold one for 20k the other day: but to keep the price artifically low on a good item really doesn’t make a lot of sense. |

It does if your trying to keep a few members of the community from profiting, monopoly style, on an item that should be available to all users equally. The Pink Floyd Moar file is one thing because you don’t have to pay if you want to earn it, but the Masterball was only ever sold, and everyone should have the chance to buy it at the same price we all could at the time. That, of course, is just my opinion. Past this post, I have no interest in arguing the point further. |

CJ, the problem is that there are players that will simply bid just under the regular purchase price on any item on Kyoubai, whether it’s a Master Ball, a Surgical Procedure, or a Tumorous Kidney. Hell, I’ve seen bids that were equal to the Ppwn Shoppe selling price. In an effort to chase the two K! Peens, you’ll always see things like that. Plus, there are plenty of griefers out there.
I applaud your efforts. I just don’t think we’re going to see any cheap Master Balls for the mbumes in the near future. |

Maybe there should be a separate store for past Itembuildr items that have been pulled from the main store. That alone would solve the problem. |

Honestly, that would defeat part of the purpose of letting past Itembuildr items that are designed poorly to quietly fade away as well as making it so that each Itembuildr item would actually have to be unique and distinctive.
While there have been plenty of complaints about the nearly identical items coming out of itembuildr, we’d be willing to wager that the complaints would have been significantly less if the itembuildr store was cleared out and the piercings *weren’t* all just moved to the appropriate emo stores.
We would even go the other way and say that *fewer* itembuildr items should be moving into stores. ET is moving anything that isn’t a meta-reference into stores, it seems (the only things to disappear are the fix itembuildr tattoos). We aren’t saying any of the items being moved were necessarily bad, but is the emo store benefited by having four to six piercings that are all +6/+6 with minor tears variation and wildly varying prices or is it now just cluttered with a bunch of items that are completely foolish to buy?
But, if those same piercings only appear occasionally in the Ppwn Store, some people would at least be interested in collecting them which would be better than the non-use they have now.
The Master Ball is just unique in that it’s so much more powerful than anything else that came out of itembuildr. If it was just in a store, it would be ‘that thing you have to buy to play’ and the rest of the game would have to be balanced around it. As a limited ‘maybe it will appear in the Ppwn Shop again, if you’re lucky’ item, it has spawned a large number of threads, huge price wars amoung people who had low interest in Kyoubai, and rumors of conspiracy and price fixing.
It isn’t fair to people without it but we’d say the Master Ball has been better for the game since it was pulled out of the itembuildr store than it was when it was available to everyone. |

well enough people stocked up and we can always put reserves on the price we bought them for to keep the price from turning into another millions thing.
And they may show up tomorrow or next week for all we know.

I’ve got 300+, and I’m not intending on making a profit on them (as was obvious from my failed idea thread). While they were ‘rare’ it made sense for them to be more expensive. I got lucky and had about 50 in storage at that time. I’d actually been stockpiling multiples of everything from the Co-Op, and from every store I could buy, (as well as a lot of good .moar files)so that I could make a mad dash for the Flezz Peen one day, the way that MCB did. As luck would have it, the disappearance of the Master Balls combined with the dozens of people that missed out on buying them, or procrastinated, etc. turned into a goldmine for me. Speculation that the MBs would never again show up in the Ppwn Shoppe increased their demand, and since the supply was very low, some of us made out like bandits. That was just the nature of that environment.
Now, though, we know it’s just a matter or time before they show up again in the Ppwn Shoppe. And that means that prices should stabilize, like any other commodity. There’s no reason why a Master Ball should sell for more than 600K, at most nowadays. And if anyone wants to put together a real ‘Co-Op’ to make sure that there’s always a few available at a fair price, then I’m in. |

so just to clarify- you rob the bank, make your getaway, and then after the fact support giving the guards guns. it’s funny how it’s only exploitation when you aren’t the only one doing it.

You quoted my post, but obviously didn’t read it.
When I sold my Master Balls, they were not available in any store, and there was speculation that they would never be available in any store. Therefore, the limited supply and increased demand caused the prices to rise. In fact, at one point, there were only 1 or 2 Master Balls listed on Kyoubai (and occasionally, none whatsoever). Add in the fact that the Master Balls that I listed were always No Reserve, and I fail to see how I ever exploited the shortage. If I had listed them with a 5,000,000 reserve (which some people did), then that would have been exploitation.
Offering an item for sale, with no minimum reserve and the lowest possible minimum opening bid, when it is a rare item, is as far away from exploitation as you can possibly get. |
