please, this just happened an hour ago.
my friend steven, was riding his BMX bike through the dirt jumps that are near my elementary school while I was chilling with my other friend Jonny. When he goes around this one turn though, a rock slips his front wheel out, impacting his face into the dirt mound. He gets up, thinking nothing is wrong, but he’s bleeding p heavily out of his mouth.
Then he asks me what happened. we tell him everything, and he’s taking this like, “what the hell are you talking about?” then I notice his front tooth is MISSING. that’s what was causing so much blood from his mouth. but he can’t remember it. He can’t even remember me & jonny telling him multiple times that he ****ed his face up.
I think he might have a concussion from the blow, and i’m freaking out. does anyone know the worst that can happen to my friend? If i lose him…
I can’t even write this without crying.
************
Also, we had walked him home, and his parents took him to the hospital, we don’t know anything else about his condition. AntiRules187 edited this message on 04/30/2009 12:22AM |

There are these places called hospitals… Watch your friend for dilated pupils, and don’t let him sleep unattended. Those are the rules I’ve always heard about concussions. edit:nm, ninja’d by Was…again. CoreyJess edited this message on 04/30/2009 12:22AM |

I am sure he will be okay. Most people with concussions recover just fine with appropriate treatment. |

A concussion is not bad as a lot of people make it out to be. Many athletes suffer numerous concussions throughout their career and that’s not safe. However, many regular people suffer from multiple concussions throughout their life and see no adverse effects (personally I’ve had 2).
As far as the face-planting goes he may have a few minor scars, because from what you described doesn’t seem as bad as some of the **** I’ve seen but no real malformation.
And the tooth, dental implant, bridge or crown to fix that.
Hope he gets better soon though. |

The blood was likely from his missing tooth, and concussions aren’t a problem unless there are major complications or something, which aren’t very likely.
Like everyone else said, just get a dental implant, no big deal. My brother’s had one. |

Its also p common for him not to remember what happened. That usually how it works, that you just suddenly wake up somewhere else, usually either in a hospital or in pain. |

ok, it’s just that i’ve never been with someone that just suffered a concussion, so I had no idea. All i knew was that you don’t remember anything, but not that you would ask what happened 6 times in, like 2 minutes. |

If he lost consciousness he might be a little dumber tomorrow, but nothing to really worry about aunless he’s really ****ing unlucky. If he didn’t [lose consciousness] then stop overreacting.
The dental piece doesn’t matter.
EDIT: Ah, I remember that one time when I woke up on the floor and the ceiling was spinning and a bunch of people was staring at me worried. And I was ****ing angry because they woke me up. Good times. ____ edited this message on 04/30/2009 1:07AM |

I’ve had a few concussions in the past couple years(thanks liquor) and I’m fine. I didn’t even bother with the hospital. I just drank more. I did lose my front tooth one of the times, though. That still sucks. |
