I went to make an alt and found the name was already in use – by a level 1 re-re who doesn’t appear to have ever touched the game beyond signing up. To free things up, I think level 1 re-res that haven’t logged in a while, have no BP, etc etc ought to be deleted after a period of time. |

I agree, a purging of accounts is in order. |

Yeah, **** the imposter Captain Amazing.
Because of him, I had to put an underscore in my name. The indignity!
he has all of 7 cred. DELETE HIM EVIL TROUT, SO THAT I CAN FEEL SPECIAL AGAIN. Captain_Amazing edited this message on 12/08/2008 4:54PM |

Alternatively, just take away the names of inactive accounts and give them a random alphanumeric string that maxes out the name limit.
Yes, purging would be better from a technical standpoint, but data pack-rats need options |

I VOTE NO.
I signed up for this game back in March, but never played it until a couple months ago. Those inactive accounts might just come back, too. Leave them alone. Pick another name for an alt. |

No. Deleting users for inactivity is stupid. |

I’m just talking about people who have 0 cred and haven’t done a thing ever, months later. They’re not coming back, and since their accounts were blank slates they’d lose nothing from having to make a new one if they did come back. |

This is exactly why we should pwn all super-inactive re-res. They’re not going to lose anything, if they really want to come back, they’ll create a new account. |

*bump*
I believe ET deleted a level 1 Re-re named Fran so that the current Fran could change her name, so if this isn’t going to be automated, can similar stuff be requested on a case-by-case basis? Or was that just a special one-time treatment for Fran? |

The person didn’t get deleted, ET changed the name for her because she ****ed like falconfour about it.
It seems unfair to let inactive accounts be purged or renamed. I want it to happen, but if I was someone who had a name and it was changed without notice to me I’d be upset.
I would suggest making an application form similar to bug reports where it costs 5BP to slightly change the other name and buy the name off them. But I object to the whole idea, obviously.
If it were to happen, that’s the way i’d want to see it happen. |

That’d be stupid. Inactivity policies tend to be lame. |
