And maybe anything else after Sunday?
I once had this contest for Style with another guy on Multiple Personality Order. For some reason, my two previously submitted styles were shot down. And yet, the leader had very low score. So it’s a race to the finish line at the last minute. It was ridiculous. I submitted two or three style at the last hour, which were all voted down. In the end, the winner won by 3 to 0.
I know this is unsportsmanlike, and might be downright shameful. And I, like the other guy, was a part of it. Log in to see images! Kittysan edited this message on 08/31/2009 1:54PM |

Weighted scores seem to be a good idea to me.
I do think how early someone posts a forum is a good indicator about its chances for being nominated. In the past month, the forum that lasted the longest usually didn’t end up the final finished forum. Last week, we had a struggle between The Ouja Board, ABC Anti-Virus and Major League Beerpong for most of the week, but right at the end all of those forums had dropped off the face of the buildr.
Clearly, those forums were going to have a lot more total votes cast than the ones at the end, Klan-based voting aside. It’s a huge disincentive to post those forums early knowing that they’re going to get eroded over the course of the week, no matter how popular they were at one time. |
