It’s determined by environmental variables. It’s illusory because our actions are simply machinations of our component parts.

everything you are saying makes no difference to the fact that each of us has an “I” that subjectively experiences events. you can try different arguments forever as to why it is just an illusion but it’s like trying to argue that your hand is just an illusion.

yes, every (living) cell is a living being. who can say whether or not they experience events though? Everyone always talks about a supposed critical mbum for consciousness but I see no reason to bumume one. Perhaps even single-celled organisms experience subjective phenomena
