As you may or may not have gathered from the subject line, the question is:
If you play computer strategy games … which do you prefer? Real-time, or Turn-Based? Please explain your preference if you can. And I know this may be pushing things, given the forum, but try not to be TOO much of an bumhole about the one you DON’T like, ‘kay? Log in to see images!

As for me, I prefer Turn-based games.
Mainly to me, I guess, is that RTS are more “OMG faster faster faster”, with no real time to think or plan. 8( Yet, it’s the thinking and planning I most enjoy! That, and the nearly inevitable “survive endless waves fo enemies, with this small pittance of woefully inadequate defenders” mission, which one MUST get past in order to continue the campaign.
So, with RTS games I just end up cheating my way through, 9 times out of 10. 8( |

I prefer turn-based, it gives me time to think my crap over before I do something stupid, and also makes sure that I don’t have to micromanage all the ****ing time. |

My sentiments exactly. I like to plan my moves, that’s the fun part of strategy. |

Turn based so I can actually use strategy. Real time strategy is just about how fast you can use hotkeys to micromanage |

Both really, depends on quality/story/who plays it
I’m p partial to Disgaea and Fire Emblem though, so probably more turn-based, at least the ones with RPG elements |

When it comes to RPG games, definitly turn based. I’m so very bumhurt about the last good Final Fantasy being IX
The only strategy game I’ve ever really liked is Age of Empires II. I love that game. BlankTH edited this message on 11/17/2008 10:58PM |

I’m more into Turn-Based, due to the amount of strategy involved.
I feel that Real-Time is just “hack and slash” fighting most of the time. |

Real-Time is whoever can mbum 1 type of unit earliest/press bumons faster. I’m a fan of Turnbased, and sad that the only two 3D MMOs for Turnbased out there is Dofus/Alantica. |
