hey guys here’s something i wrote for my creative writing clbum. what do yo uthink

Ask anyone, they would tell you Brian had a good head on his shoulders: “Brian? That boy? Oh, he’s a nice boy, has his head on straight.” So it was a surprise to me and everyone else in the car when his head suddenly exploded. He was telling a joke at the time (he always had the best jokes), and I was looking right at him when, mid-sentence, it just popped, like someone had stuck a firecracker in a watermelon. I continued grinning at him for several seconds, anticipating the punchline, but none was forthcoming. That was the point at which every part of my brain except for the part that controls ‘shrieking like a little girl’ shut itself down in self-defense.

My next conscious thought went something like “Did somebody call an ambulance already?” But a cursory check revealed that the wailing noise was just me, still screaming. I shut up promptly. A quick peek out the window revealed that Jim, the driver, was weaving at dangerously high speeds through our neighborhood’s side-streets.

“What the **** is going on,” Jim shouted hoarsely, “Are we being ****ing shot at?” I deduced from his voice that I hadn’t been the only one to join the scream team a few minutes ago, and paradoxically that realization stabilized me. “I didn’t hear any shot,” I pointed out, “and I don’t see any bullet holes. Besides, what kind of bullet can do THAT?” I said, gesturing vaguely at the general headlessness of the torso next to me.

“Government bullets.” Henry said, speaking up for the first time. We mulled that over for a moment. “No way man, that **** just doesn’t happen in real life!”

“Do heads explode in real life?” He retorted. In the silence that followed, a sound began to bumert itself. A helicopter, coming closer.

“I think we’re in trouble.” I said weakly.
