Hello ForumWarz users!

As you may know, I recently ran a survey to see how you think about various aspects of ForumWarz. Here, I present you with the results: 95 users filled in the survey in a way that could be processed. All scores range from 1 (never/awful) to 5 (addict/perfect).

PARTICIPATION/ENJOYMENT

Collecting E-Peen

Average Participation/Enjoyment scores (from now on: scores): 3.4/3.8 (high)

Unsurprisingly, most of us collect E-Peen and enjoy doing so. It’s a simple, effective and solid award system, similar to what other gaming sites offer.

Domination

Scores: 2.7/2.9 (below average)

A very broad side game, that incorporates multiple gameplay aspects and creativity into one. However the enjoyment score is barely higher than participation. More on this further down.

Flamebate

Scores: 2.5/3.1 (average)

Participation being lower than domination, its enjoyment is actually higher: it seems that flamebate isn’t for everyone, but those who post or read regularly do enjoy it.

Forumbuildr

Scores: 2.1/2.8 (low)

Even lower participation, which is understandable, considering the complaints often voiced about this aspect of the game. Fishy voting and unfunny submissions are concerns shared by many posting on the ForumBuildr board.

IDC

Scores: 1.9/2.6 (very low)

I personally think it’s easy to explain the low score on this one: activity is often low, and if you’re not really hooked on the game, it doesn’t really make sense to go into random chat with other users. Still, enjoyment is relatively high. I personally don’t think the score indicates a problem.

INCIT

Scores: 2.6/3.1 (average)

A high variety of scores on this one, there are a lot of users who don’t play at all, with a lot of addicts as well. There’s obviously a niche being catered to and INCIT does it well.

Pwning Forums

Scores: 4.3/4.0 (very high)

The basic gameplay activity of ForumWarz gets very high ratings. Surprisingly, there’s not too many users out there who have gotten bored with it yet and gave it low ratings (maybe they left, though).

MISCELLANEOUS OPINIONS

Availability of mods/staff

Score: 4.1 (very high)

Very few negative ratings, CZ communicates with the users very well. Not much to say on this.

Balance between clbumes

Score: 2.8 (below average)

DML and minrepair overpower trolls, while Camwhores are obscenely awarded for their cred, leaving Emo Kids borderline useless. That’s what I make of it, at least. The average score is deceptively high, jacked up by users giving 3 as their answer “because they only played as one clbum”.

Community

Score: 4.1 (very high)

No surprise there, why play or post if you don’t enjoy the community?

Interface

Score: 4.0 (very high)

Intuitive and simple, solid. The vast majority of users gave this a 4.

Site performance

Score: 3.7 (high)

Lag has reduced lately, but it’s still an issue (speedruns). But the site functions properly 99% of the time.

Tubmail

Score: 3.5 (high)

Adequate, but not exactly rich in features. Few negative ratings.

Spoilerpedia

Score: 3.8 (high)

Cool that users contribute to it increasingly, and quantity is increasing. Could it score higher if some typical wiki features where implemented?

OPEN QUESTIONS

If you could change one thing about ForumWarz, what would it be?

Hard as it is to quantitatively analyze the answers to this, I will give a short summary of typical suggestions posted.

Heard mostly was a wish for more content or free stuff (18). Free avatars, more forum visits, more forums, missions, etc. A good sign, people are enjoying the game and can’t get enough. Many of these wishes can be fulfilled for a handful of bucks once Episode 2 comes out.

Three other subjects of suggestions where mentioned 13 times. First of all: Domination. Complaints focus on klan vanilla and the need to be around for the end of the round, which is not possible for everyone, for instance, Europeans with a life.

INCIT was also mentioned 13 times. Virtually everyone wanted to see some way that play can continue without 5 submissions.

Last of all, “nothing much” was also quite popular and 13 users answered somewhere along those lines.

I didn’t really analyze the answers to this one, but virtually all of them where very, very positive. I’ll just share some of the answers that I found representative and/or amusing.
