My point still stands. The sparrow was always limited to being a bird and not a fish. We simply looked at what made this true and put it into words. (view post) |

dear starfang 42Do they limit? Or do they simply spell out limits that were already existing? I think science is the latter. Science is built on observing and understanding what you can, then handing it to the next guy, who can build upon your understanding, find possible flaws, and apply it to their own understanding. With this, science as a whole will tend towards the Truth, even if we can’t capture all of it. Like I said, see a false thing from enough angles and you will eventually know it is false. The problem I have with this is you’re talking as if science is a barrier, whereas I see it as a tool for our understanding. Indeed, science is built on the idea that we could all be wrong about everything, and that we should keep searching and checking, and double checking, and looking for alternative theories, and so on and so forth. From what I’ve seen, science is quite a lot more dynamic and open to change than religion. (view post) |

Interesting. I’ve heard of pastafarianism, but I never really checked it out until now. I’ll have to dig around a bit, but if I were to take up one of these so called “joke” religions that have turned into real belief systems, I think I would tend more towards mooism (www.churchofmoo.com, has little to nothing concerning cows) because it tends more towards my thought pattern. And they’ve got spiffy quotes like this one: ””Religion is just a tool for getting at the Ultimate Experience of Truth. Most religious people, given this tool, are like the person who, given a set of lock picking tools and a safe containing the Ultimate Prize, have somehow managed to lock themselves inside the safe and leave both treasure and lock picks on the other side of the door. -Floyd Gecko “ (view post) |

What do you do outside of Forumwarz?Ah, roleplaying. I do a bit of that. While I’m not exactly good, I’m not horrid either. Just don’t put me in charge, I’ve learned my inspiration and storytelling skills waver waaaaay to much to hold a good story and all the details together.
By the way, I can tubmail you my list of webcomics if you’re interested. (view post) |

dear starfang 42Good point. There’s a lot we don’t know about our universe, and we may one day find out that our accepted laws of physics are limited just like our perception. In fact, we already kind of are with the whole problem of a unified theory. But science is nothing if not dynamic. As an aside, that’s one of the things I dislike about religions, especially ones that maintain that they are undisputed the only right one (see: Christianity and similar) and are static to a very large degree. I mean, how long did it take for the Christian church to officially acknowledge that Galileo and company were right? That’s not to say I hate all religion. Just that I’m not going to follow one that doesn’t keep with the times, accept new facts, and not try to swindle me out of hundreds of thousands of dollars. (view post) |

Better than average physical ability and endurance, and no small amount of training for each one. I see now clear breaking of the laws of physics, if you are referencing his endurance stunts. Beyond that, I’ve seen enough “how it’s done” shows on magic that I’m more inclined to believe it’s sleight of hand and clever misdirection of people’s perceptions. Admittedly, I’ve never seen him up close. (view post) |

A funny thing happened in the forums today...Yeah, I was gonna buy that, but I figured grind one more day and I’d have enough for the overcoat. I’m glad I waited, though it’s going to be a **** on my upkeep. Ah well, I’m due to level up with tomorrows’s plays anyway. Would have today, but The ophilia mission took two of my four visits(view post) |
